sound等连系动词后面，引导表语从句；也可用在行为动词之后，作方式状语从句。无论是何种从句，当其所表示的情况是事实或具有很大可能性时，通常用陈述语气；当其所表示的情况不是事实，而是主观的想像或夸大性的比喻时，通常用虚拟语气。现在的状况用过去式（连系动词be用were）；过去的状况用过去完成式。

　　It seems as if the boy has lost his way.
　　
　　那个男孩好像迷路了。
　　
　　The young man with long hair as if he were a girl.

　　He looked as if he had known something about it.
　　
　　他好像已经知道一些情况。

　　She loves the boy as if she were his mother.

　　注意：as if引导方式状语从句时可用省略形式，后面接名词、形容词、副词和介词短语，也可跟分词或不定式。
　　
　　He acts as if a fool.
　　
　　他表现得像个傻子。
　　
　　The old woman set upon the thief as if mad.
　　
　　那个老妇人发疯似地扑向小偷。
　　
　　She talked to the stranger while walking, as if absentmindedly.
