Dear Green,
Next Monday is my birthday. I'm going to hold a birthday party at home in the evening. It will start at 7:30. Would you like to come? I've also invited some other classmates of ours and some of my friends. Besides, my brother and Jackson, his English teacher from America, will come and add to the fun.
I live at 12 Guangming Road. You can take bus No. 23 or No. 45, and get off at the stop of Guangming Road. Then walk south for 50 meters. It's a red house with a white door. You can't miss it.
I do hope you will come.
Yours,
Liu Lin
Dear Mr Smith,
Recently my friend Maria Staley, who was once your student, told me that your school needed a Chinese teacher. I was very glad at the news for I feel like teaching students Chinese in the United States.
I was born in Jinan, China on November 20, 1969. I studied English in Shangdong University from 1987 to 1991. After graduation I came to U.S. in 1991 and began to study in New York University in the same year. I took education as my major and in 1993 I got my Master's degree. After that I began to work in high school. From 1995 to 1997 I taught in Central High School in New York. Since 1997 I have been teaching in Lincoln High School in Washington. I am an experienced teacher and I am healthy.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
Dear Fang Bingbing,
I'm very glad to learn that you are coming to study here. It so happened that my roommate has moved away so you can share it with me if you like. The most important thing for you to do when you arrive here is to improve your English, for all the courses are taught in English. I'm afraid that I will not be able to meet you at the airport, because I have some experiments to do that day. It takes an hour to get here by taxi. Come out of the airport into the expressway to the town, turn to the right when you are in Wall Street till to the Empire Building, and then turn right and you will see our university, our house is just at the opposite of the school named Happy Inn.
Be sure to bring all your legal cards along. I'm waiting for you!
Yours,
Frederick

Dear Jack,
In June when you were visiting Beijing. on the last day of your trip a farewell party was given at Youth Palace. At the party I sat next to you. Then at the end when we went away we took each other's notebook by mistake. I discovered this only afterwards when I looked into the notebook and found your name and address inside. I am now sending your notebook by posting to you. Will you please send my note book to me at the address which is given above? Thank you very much.
I hope you will visit Beijing again soon.

Li Hua

Dear Ms / Miss Welfare,
I have two questions to ask you.
1. I have heard some people say “ He is taller than me. ” instead of “ He is taller than I. ” Which is correct? Can you please explain why?
2. Do “ further ” and “ farther ” mean the same thing? If not, what is the difference? When do we use the one and when do we use the other?
Will you please answer these questions for me?
Thank you very much.

Dear Henry,
How nice to hear from you again. You want to know what is going on in our school. In short, things have been improving since our school began to carry on exploring study. In the past, the teachers always kept on teaching the language points in class. We students just listened and took notes. But now we often discuss and try to solve the problems raised by the teachers or by ourselves. After class, we enjoy different kinds of activities instead of doing endless homework. For example, we can read what we are interested in. We can go to the library or surf the Internet for various kinds of information.
In a word, we are now masters of study, and we are happy.
Best wishes,
Yours,
Wang Gang

Dear Peter,
I have two tickets for the double show on Saturday night, June 7th. I'd love you to come with me.
They're showing two full-length films: THE WILD WEST and WAR STORY. It's a good programme, which lasts three hours, from 5:30 to 8:30. The show is on at the ODEON cinema, North Road, which is a bit too far from your hotel. We can eat something at the cinema restaurant after the show is over. The restaurant stays open from 6:00 to 10:00. Let's meet at the gate of the cinema at 5:15. Phone me if you can't make it.
See you Saturday.

Dear Mr and Mrs Smith,
Sichuan is in the southwest of China. It is known both in China and outside China as “ home of giant pandas ” . Every year a great number of visitors both in and outside China come to visit Sichuan.
I'll greet you in Beijing. Then we will fly to Chengdu and visit some beautiful places by bus, such as Songpan and Jiuzhaigou, where we can see some pandas. After visiting these places we'll come back to Chengdu again and fly to Chongqing. Then we will travel along the Changjiang River to Wuhan by ship. You'll find your trip pleasant in Wuhan. And it will take you about two weeks to go round these places.

Dear Li Hua,
I'm glad to receive your letter. In your letter, you asked me about table manners in America. In fact, in several ways American table manners are different. A dinner guest is expected to arrive on time. At dinner, the fork is mostly used in the right hand. While the knife is generally used only to cut meat and potatoes. In many places the napkin is put around the neck, while here it is put on the lap.
Looking forward to meeting you in Nanjing in the coming summer vacation.
Yours,
John Smith
Dear Mary,
This city has changed a lot in the past 5 years. First, more high buildings have appeared, which are modern and beautiful. Many overpasses have been set up, so it has become very convenient for people to travel. Besides, many families have got cars of their own. The people's life here has become rich and colorful. People can enjoy themselves traveling on holidays. To my delight, I can taste delicious food of different countries such as the food of America, Japan and South Korea. And now it is easier for me to keep in touch with you than last time, for I can e-mail you in my office.
Best wishes!
Yours truely,
Jack
