“一……就……”的表达法是各种测试经常要考查的。因此，应将中学课本中学到的常见表达方法总结出来，供大家参考。
1. 在一个主从复合句中用as soon as 引导时间状语从句。若主句中用一般将来时，则从句中须用一般现在时表示将来时间。若主句中用一般过去时，则从句中须用一般过去时表示过去将来时间。例如：
（1）I will give the book to him as soon as I finish reading it.
（2）The baby stopped crying as soon as it saw its mother.
2. 用关联连词“hardly…when”串联主从复合句。若when前面的分句中用过去完成时，则when后面的分句中用一般过去时。若将hardly放在句首，则应将when前面分句中的主语、谓语部分倒装。例如：
（1）I had hardly arrived home when the telephone rang. （我一到家，电话铃就响了。）
若将hardly放在句首，则上句可以转换成：
Hardly had I arrived home when the telephone rang.
3. 用关联连词“no sooner…than”串联主从复合句。若than前面分句中用过去完成时，则than后面分句中用一般过去时。若将no sooner放在句首，则应将than前面分句中的主语、谓语部分倒装。例如：
The rain had no sooner stopped than he set off. （雨一停，他就出发了。）
若将no sooner提至句首，则上句可转换成：
No sooner had the rain stopped than he set off.
4. 用“on / upon ＋名词或动词－ing形式”。这种结构，相当于一个用as soon as 引导的时间状语从句，强调一个动作一发生，另一个动作随即发生。例如：
（1）On reading the letter （= As soon as he read the letter）, he found that a servant of his family in France had been put in prison, though no fault of his own.
（他一看信就知道法国他家中的一个仆人被无辜地关进了监狱。）
（2）However, on his arrival in Paris = （on arriving in Paris）, he was recognized as a noble and thrown into prison. （然而，他一到巴黎就被人认出是个贵族而关进了监狱。）
（3）The woman cried out on / upon hearing the strange whistle. （那妇女一听到那奇怪的口哨声便大叫起来。）
5. 在主从复合句中用the moment that引导时间状语从句。这种名词短语起从属连词的作用，相当于as soon as，其中that常被省略掉。例如：
I started off the moment I received your letter.
（我一收到你的信就动身了。）
6. the minute（that）也可以在主从复合句中起从属连词的作用，相当于as soon as，用来引导时间状语从句。例如：
He recognized her the minute（that）he saw her.
（他一看见她就把她认出来了。）
7. the instant（that）也可以在主从复合句中起从属连词的作用，相当于as soon as，用来引导时间状语从句。例如：
The girl began to sing the instant （that）she heard the accompanying music.
（这个女孩一听到伴奏的音乐声就开始跳起舞来。）
8. immediately本身虽是副词，却可以在主从复合句中起从属连词的作用，相当于as soon as，用来引导时间状语从句。例如：
The young lady rushed into the room immediately she heard the noise.
（那位年轻女士一听有响声就冲进房间里去。）
9. instantly本身虽是副词，却可以在主从复合句中起从属连词作用，引导时间状语从句。例如：
Tell me instantly he arrives. （他一到就告诉我。）
10. directly本身虽是副词，却能起从属连词作用，相当于as soon as ，用来引导时间状语从句。例如：
（1）He gets up directly the bell rings. （铃一响他就起来了。）
（2）I went home directly I had finished work. （我一干完活就回家了。）
