在初中阶段的英语学习过程中，同学们会碰到不少涉及 since 的题目，肯定会有同学对此一筹莫展。下面为同学们简单介绍一下 since 的用法。
1. since 作副词时，意为“后来”，“从那以后”，它往往与现在完成时连用，和表示过去某一时刻的词或词组同时出现在句子中。例如：
He left the town in 1980 and I haven's seen him since.
他在 1986 年离开这个城镇，后来我一直没有见过他。
He left home in 1971 and has not been heard of since.
他在一九七一年离家，以后一直没有音讯。
He went to Turkey in 1956 and has lived there ever since.
他在一九五六年前往土耳其，此后一直住在那里。
2. since 作介词时，与完成时连用，意思是“自……以来；自从”。例如：
She hasn't been home since her marriage.
她自结婚后未曾回过家。
Since last seeing you I have been ill.
上次看到你以后我就病了。
He has lived here since 1949.
他从 1949 年以来一直住在这里。
Many things have happened sice then.
从那时以来发生了许多事。
3. since 作连词时，有以下用法。
（ 1 ）与完成时连用，意思是“自……以后”，其后面引导含一般过去时态的从句。例如：
Where have you been since I last saw you?
自上次见面以后，你到哪里去了？
I have written home but once since I came here.
我到这里以后只写过一次家信。
（ 2 ）用于“ It's + 时间段 +since ＋一般过去时态的句子”句型。例如：
How long is it since you were in London?
你在伦敦多久了？
It is just at a week since we arrived here.
我们到达此地刚好一个星期。
（ 3 ）意思是“既然，因为”。例如：
Since we have no money, we can't buy it.
因为我们没钱，我们买不起（它）。
Since you insist, I must go.
因为你坚持，我就必须去了。
但是请注意，当 since 与完成时态连用时，主句中的谓语动词需用延续性动词。所以一些终止性动词必须及时转化为延续性动词。
