A Present for Teachers' Day
Today is September 10. It is Teachers' Day. Xiao Hua has been ill in bed for more than a week. Her teacher comes to her home to give her lessons after school every day. In order to show their respect, Xiao Hua and her mother decide to give the teacher a present. They make a big red flower. When the teacher arrives, Xiao Hua presents the flower to the teacher. She fastens it to the breast of her teacher's jacket, and says “ Happy Teachers' Day ” to her. The teacher expresses her thanks and sets down to give her lessons. Xiao Hua's mother pours a glass of water for the teacher and sits down at the writing-table with a table lamp on it.

Use the Rubbish Can
One day Dick went to the park and sat on a bench reading. And near the bench was a notice with the words “ Use the Rubbish Can ” . Ayoung man also came and sat by him reading a newspaper. While he was reading he ate sweets and threw the wrappings on the ground. Dick thought it bad manners to throw waste about. So he decided to teach the young man a lesson. He quietly took the notice and the man's hat to the right side of the bench. Dick put the hat on the ground. The young man kept eating and throwing wrappings on the ground without noticing this. All the wrappings were thrown into the hat. Dick left the park and couldn't help smiling.

One day on his way home. Mr Smith saw a thief carrying a TV set and a recorder running along the street hurriedly. He didn't stop the thief. Instead, he pulled down his hat and pretended not to have seen him. A few minutes later, a policeman stopped him and asked if he had seen a man with a TV set and a recorder pass by. Mr Smith answered that he hadn't. The policeman, however, soon caught the thief. When Mr Smith got home. he was surprised to see that it was his own things that had been stolen.
